Back Door Kitchen Tour, 3rd Annual
The Back Door Kitchen Tour, sponsored by The Residents of Old Wilmington, Inc., features tours of the kitchen areas of 9 homes in the Historic District of Wilmington, NC. In many cases the homes on the tour show how homeowners faced the design and renovation challenges of creating beautiful contemporary kitchens that would blend with the spirit of their historic homes in downtown Wilmington. Some kitchens, while serving today's needs, remain close to the original design of the kitchen for the old home. In most homes, other rooms of the house are able to be viewed as people enter or exit the home. Food tastings, from local restaurants, are served in five of the homes. A painting by a local artist is commissioned for the poster for the event, and the original painting is raffled on the day of the tour. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the tour. Tickets will be sold at the home sites on the day of the tour. Homes on the tour are within walking distance of each other. Call Karen Behm at 910.762.4916 for details.
